Meet the Candidates: Doug McCormick

Village homeowners will elect a new board on Wednesday, October 17 for the 2012-2013 term.  There are six candidates for five positions.  We continue the Meet the Candidates series with Doug McCormick.

Why are you interested in serving as a director and what goals do you want to see accomplished within your term as director?

I have lived in Coto de Caza for 22 years and have lived in the Village since 2005.  I have been involved with the association board and landscape committee for 4 years.  I would like to have the opportunity to continue serving our community in 2013.

The Village has so much to offer.  We have open areas, equestrian trails, mature trees, classic custom made homes, all with a small town feel.  This is an area where you can get to know your neighbors.  I myself have utilized our trails for recreational use for years.  The beauty of our community is what has inspired me to serve on the association board.

The past year you have noticed landscape improvements throughout the Village.  Intersection corners have been enhanced with new plants.  Park benches have been installed in different areas.  I have been instrumental in all of these improvements, and I will be facing major cost issues.  Our trees are aging, our roads are in desperate need of repair, and we have drainage issues.  All of these projects are going to require future board members to act in sound & responsible way.

We must plan for the future!  I want to ehlp in anyway I can to make sure the correct decisions are being made with our association dollars, and that we continue to enhance the overall beauty of our community.  This will help all of us by increasing home values.  If you feel as I do, please cast your votes for me.

What is your background and experience? Have you served as a committee member or director for a community association?

Landscape Committee for 4 years.  Board of Directors for 1 year.

Are you currently and owner in the association, if so how long?

Have you served or are presently serving on any committee(s) for the association?
