Volunteers Needed for Party Planning!
How about a festive neighborhood gathering? The Village is known as the friendliest community in all of Coto for good reason – we like getting to know our neighbors! Our Social Committee is recruiting members to help plan and stage a few annual events to be held on Village-owned property. The initial event we are discussing is a Village Faire (& Flea Market?) for early Fall. This first-ever-of-its-type event will be held in the daytime only, on a Saturday and provides residents a chance to walk to the site since it’s only a block or two from their doors.
We have a huge outdoor space at the intersection of Via Venado and Via Pajaro (see map, below) that has ample room for 6’ table “booths”, smaller carnival-type game booths, local performer platform, picnic area, etc. Many of our members have talents in jewelry-making, artworks, homemade and holiday crafts, growing potted plants, small collectibles to sell, etc. In past years, each street often participated by hosting their own game booth. Village moms might be interested in setting up a kids toys and clothes booth where they can buy/swap/barter for gently used items that kids quickly outgrow. The area connects at the lowest section to the end of the Via Alondra cul-de-sac where food trucks will be stationed for purchasing bites.
The planning is ongoing and we encourage your suggestions. We need ideas, energy, extra hands, and enthusiasm! The initial Social Committee planning session for this event is scheduled for Saturday August 26, at 10:00AM on the site of the event. Come on down and get involved! It’s party planning time and we need your help!
