The Village Holiday Lighting Contest gets more challenging every year and this year has proven to be quite daunting for the volunteer homeowners tasked with the judging. With three categories chosen as broad parameters to guide them, our intrepid judges set forth to visit each and every Village street in the dark of the night this weekend.
Homes were judged based on the following three categories, with each winner awarded $100;
- Elegance of Design
- Traditional Spirit of Christmas
- Full Griswold Family Style
We sought homes that best exhibited an Elegance of Design in their use of color or perhaps by thorough sequenced lighting used in an eye-popping way.
The judges were tasked with finding that outstanding example of a Traditional Spirit of Christmas that would necessarily include a religious theme or a Santa Claus and his friends; elves, reindeer, snowmen and the like.
Finally, the judges were looking for the homeowner channeling their best Griswold Family interpretation; who put up such a plethora of holiday lighting that it could be seen by astronauts passing overhead in the Space Station.
