Conejo Update: Contract Awarded

The board has accepted a bid from Newport Harbor Construction to repair the drainage pipe and bridge repair at Via Conejo as well as desilt the drains at Via Pavo Real, Avenida la Caza and Via Ortega. Repairing the pipe and bridge should take about 2 weeks.

Our repairs will begin as soon as we receive the go-ahead from The Gas Company.  The Gas Company is in the process of re-routing its gas line from Conejo to Via Venado near Coto Valley Club.  The Gas Company anticipates it will complete its work in early March.

Thanks for your continued patience!

Parking Committee Memo to OCFA

The parking committee, with the board’s support, has submitted a proposal to the OCFA that would grant The Village a variance to permit parking on one side of the street. Our contact at OCFA, Kevin Bass, believes there are enough mitigating circumstances to warrant review of our request.

Once we hear back from the OCFA, the committee will compile the options available to the Village and seek input from the community on whichever option is preferred.  The deadline to finalize the parking policy and have it in place is April 1.

Conejo Update: Water & Gas

Santa Margarita Water District crews are in the process of repairing the water pipe on Via Conejo.  We expect SMWD’s work to be completed this week.

Southern California Gas Company will begin work during the week of February 21 to relocate the gas main adjacent to the Via Conejo pipe. Our project bounced around the gas company for almost 6 weeks before finally reaching someone who would take action. The gas company anticipates it will take 2-3 weeks to complete its portion of the repair. This work must be done before we can install new pipes and repair the road and sidewalk.

Please help us out and keep your children away from the damaged area. This is an active construction zone. We don’t want anyone getting hurt.

Thank you for your continued patience. We will keep you posted on the repair timeline as information becomes available.

Conejo Update: Civil & Soils Engineers

Here is the latest on the Via Conejo pipe repair:

The board has accepted bids for civil engineering and soils engineering from Alpine Engineering and Petra Geotechnical, respectively.  Combined the bids total about $6,000.

Alpine Engineering will draw up plans for the repair project.  Next step is to give that plan to contractors for their bids to do the repair work.

Thanks for your patience!
