As I write this letter, 2011 draws to a close and I am looking forward to 2012. As the new Board settles into our roles and closes out old business, we embark on tackling the challenges of the New Year.
One of the challenges is California Law SB563, which essentially limits the Board’s ability to conduct business outside of meetings. While some may find this cumbersome, this will force the HOA to become policy driven, which will improve transparency, fairness and consistency throughout our community.
Part of the New Year tradition is to create resolutions and the Board will be doing this come January, as we set our goals for the coming year. We welcome your suggestions and ideas and look forward to hearing from you.
One of our main goals is to update the Architectural Guidelines that is the basis of the Village’s unique character. A professional architect has been retained to assist us in this endeavor. Our goal is to have an updated set of guidelines that preserves the Village’s uniqueness, while streamlining the submittal process.

First, the bad news. The Ortega drain project took longer than expected.
Now, the good news. Via Ortega and Via Coyote will be open on Thursday morning – just in time for your Thankgiving guests.
Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this issue.
By now you should have received a letter informing you the directors are considering revising the Parking Rules of the Rules and Regulations. All members of the association have a 30 day period to offer comments and opinions on the proposed changes.
The comment period ends on Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Should you wish to comment, please submit your comments in writing to Merit either by mail or fax or attend the December board meeting.
