Meet the Candidates – Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.

You are invited to meet this year’s candidates for The Village Board of Directors on Wednesday, September 14 at 7 p.m. at the Coto Valley Club.

Each candidate will have a few minutes to take questions from homeowners and provide brief answers about their qualifications and objectives.

The candidate for the board of directors are:
Linda Bundy
Jim Evans
Les Krieger (incumbent)
Doug McCormick (incumbent)
Jeff Reuter (incumbent)
Ken Upton (incumbent)
Jason Vallone

The Importance of Voting

Each year we struggle to reach quorum. We need 50 percent — or 214 members — to return their ballots in order to conduct the annual election. Please take a moment to fill out your ballot and return it in the white envelope with your address and signature. Postage is already provided for you.

Village business can be conducted on a limited basis only until a new board is seated. Delaying the election a month because we did not receive enough properly executed ballots is frustrating, time consuming and expensive.

Make it you goal to return your ballot on or before October 12.

Thank you!

New Parking Policy Trial Period Begins July 1

Many homeowners are doing a great job of keeping Village streets clear by having their guests park off-street and on only one side of the road.  This should make the transition to the new parking policy even easier!

As you saw in the newsletter, the trial period for the new parking policy begins July 1, 2011 and ends August 31, 2011 and applies to ALL Village residents and their renters / guests / vendors.

Keep reading to download the parking permit and map.

Fire Watch Volunteers Needed

The South County Land Stewards, together with the Orange County Fire Authority, are seeking volunteers for the South County Fire Watch.

Several Village homeowners have participated in this program during the past two years but more volunteers are needed. Here’s how it works:

  • On Red Flag days, South County Land Stewards assign rotating shifts of volunteers to wildlife vantage points to serve as deterrents and lookouts for fire professions.
  • Participants are placed in locations easily accessible from where they live or work. For example, Village residents are often assigned to Starr Ranch’s entrance or the picnic area on Bell Canyon Trail.
  • If you are not available to take a shift on a particular Red Flag day, that’s ok.  The South County Land Stewards will work through the list to find someone who is.
